Bird's Nest
About The Bird's Nest
Welcome to The Bird’s Nest, a one-of-a-kind “primitive glamping” experience that will take you to new heights. Your journey begins with a short walk down uneven stone steps to your multi-level accommodation.
Perched on a 400-square-foot deck The Nest offers an amazing view of Horseshoe Bay. The covered portion of The Nest is designed with an open concept, not completely waterproof as it opens to the hammock lounge and sky tent above. There is a small area of the nest that we call “The Egg” - a place to stay dry should there be rain. The Egg can be curtained off to utilize the air conditioner or heater – but please keep in mind that The Nest is still a tent with thin walls so it can still get warm on a hot summer day (evenings are usually cool) and can be cold in the winter. (We do provide an electric blanket on cold nights.)
The Bird’s Nest offers you four unique places to lay down and spread your wings:
- The main deck has a sectional that can be pushed together to form a queen size bed.
- “The Hangout” underneath the nest has a hanging bed with queen-size mattress.
- The Hammock Lounge, above the main deck, is a great place to take a nap.
- And at the very top of The Bird’s Nest is “The Sky Tent”, a suspended tent where you can sleep under the stars!
The Bird’s Nest has a private restroom and shower located at the top of the hill (about 50 steps away).
Guests are provided with a bin that includes a double sleeping bag, a set of sheets, blanket, and two pillows – you get to choose which of the four sleeping spaces you would like for the evening! Two additional guests (4 total) are permitted with additional bedding fee.
***Note: The Bird’s Nest is for sure-footed adults only. The stone steps leading to the nest are uneven, and climbing a ladder is involved to get to the Hammock Lounge and Sky Tent. Additionally, the walkway to the Hangout (under the deck) may be slippery and uneven depending on the weather. Also please note that The Bird’s Nest is not as insulated as some of our other accommodations, and could get warm on a hot summer day, and cool during a winter evening. If you have any questions about this unique accommodation please ask. The Bird’s Nest has electricity (and places to charge your devices) but does not have water on the deck (but there is a private restroom with a full-size/hot shower up the hill). Although there is a gate to the Bird’s Nest, we ask that you do not leave any valuables while you are away.
